Tuna Salad Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna, drained
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 slices whole grain bread
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 tomato, sliced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tuna Salad:
    1. In a medium bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, finely chopped celery, finely chopped red onion, sweet pickle relish, and lemon juice.
    2. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
    3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Assemble the Sandwiches:
    1. Lay out the slices of whole grain bread on a clean surface.
    2. Spread an even amount of the tuna salad mixture onto 4 of the bread slices.
    3. Top each tuna salad layer with a lettuce leaf and a few slices of tomato.
    4. Place the remaining bread slices on top to form sandwiches.
  3. Serve:
    1. Cut each sandwich in half, if desired, and serve immediately.
    2. Alternatively, wrap the sandwiches in plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to eat.
