Tuna Salad Sandwich
Ingredients
- 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna, drained
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp sweet pickle relish
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 slices whole grain bread
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 1 tomato, sliced
Instructions
- Prepare the Tuna Salad:
- In a medium bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, finely chopped celery, finely chopped red onion, sweet pickle relish, and lemon juice.
- Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Assemble the Sandwiches:
- Lay out the slices of whole grain bread on a clean surface.
- Spread an even amount of the tuna salad mixture onto 4 of the bread slices.
- Top each tuna salad layer with a lettuce leaf and a few slices of tomato.
- Place the remaining bread slices on top to form sandwiches.
- Serve:
- Cut each sandwich in half, if desired, and serve immediately.
- Alternatively, wrap the sandwiches in plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to eat.
